Make in India 2.0 Apparel Schemes Fuel Growth in Textiles Sector
The Make in India initiative, launched in 2014 and now in its 2.0 stage, emphasizes the growth of the textiles sector among others. Focused on enhancing domestic manufacturing, the initiative includes the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes across key sectors, boosting investments and capacity. For textiles, the PLI scheme aims to promote MMF Apparel, MMF Fabrics, and Technical Textiles production. As of December 2025, these efforts resulted in significant investment, job creation, and growth in exports and turnover within the industry.
