Master Plan for Artificial Recharge of Groundwater 2020
The Ministry of Jal Shakti has introduced a Master Plan for Artificial Recharge to Groundwater, aiming to construct approximately 1.42 crore recharge structures across India to harness about 185 BCM of rainwater. The plan, developed by the Central Ground Water Board, focuses on state-specific interventions and has been shared with state governments for implementation in conjunction with existing schemes. While no specific funding has been allocated, various structures have been constructed in several states for demonstration purposes. The initiative is part of the Jal Shakti Abhiyan campaign, which aims to enhance water conservation efforts across the country.
