The Indian government has approved the Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for the Rabi Marketing Season (RMS) 2026-27, with an estimated procurement of 297 Lakh MT and a payout of approximately ₹84,263 crore to farmers. The MSP for wheat is set at ₹2,585 per quintal, ensuring a margin of 109% over production costs. The MSP for foodgrains has tripled since 2014-15, benefiting 1.84 crore farmers. The government aims for self-sufficiency in pulses by 2027, with 100% procurement of tur, urad, and masoor until 2028-29. Digital reforms and enhanced procurement mechanisms are also highlighted to support farmers.
