Ministry Allocates Rs. 15,905.86 Crore for Northeast Development
Over the past five years, the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) has allocated a total of Rs. 15,905.86 crore to the North East States under several initiatives including the Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North East Region (PM-DevINE) and the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme. The state-specific allocation data reveals that Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Meghalaya received significant portions of this funding. The utilization of these funds has been at 62%, hindered by factors such as challenging terrain and short working seasons. To enhance fund management and project monitoring, the Ministry has implemented several digital and structural measures such as the Poorvottar Vikas Setu portal and Field Level Technical Support Units in each state. Moving forward, fund releases will occur in four equal installments to ensure balanced disbursement and monitoring.
