Ministry of Defence Sees Record Budget for FY 2026-27
In the Union Budget for FY 2026-27, the Ministry of Defence has been allocated a record Rs 7.85 lakh crore, marking a 15.19% increase over the previous year. This substantial allocation aims at modernizing the Armed Forces, reinforcing domestic industries, and enhancing defence capabilities. A significant portion of the budget, Rs 2.19 lakh crore, is directed towards capital expenditures, focusing on the acquisition of advanced military equipment. Additionally, Rs 12,100 crore has been allocated to the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme, reflecting the government’s commitment to veteran healthcare.
