Ministry of Electronics & IT: Massive Deactivation of Aadhaar Numbers to Combat Identity Fraud

The Ministry of Electronics & IT underlines its move to deactivate over 25 million Aadhaar numbers associated with deceased individuals as a vital strategy to eliminate identity fraud and unauthorized use. This initiative is part of a larger cleanup effort to maintain Aadhaar's integrity and accuracy. Various technological measures like Biometric Lock, Aadhaar Lock/Unlock, and systems for secure data storage are being implemented to secure the identity system further.
