Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's Initiative on Food Vendor Licensing

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, through the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), has launched initiatives to facilitate licensing compliance for small food vendors, including exempting street vendors from registration fees and introducing perpetual validity for licenses. Over 74.33 lakh food business licenses have been issued, while over 40,000 non-conforming samples were detected in 2025–26.
