Ministry of Heavy Industries Launches Phase-II to Boost India's Capital Goods Competitiveness
The Ministry of Heavy Industries has unveiled the Scheme for Enhancement of Competitiveness in the Indian Capital Goods Sector- Phase-II, with a financial outlay of Rs. 1207 crores. This initiative involves the establishment of various Advanced Centres of Excellence and Common Engineering Facility Centres across India, aimed at bolstering the capital goods sector. The strategy is demand-driven, and proposals can be submitted by Project Implementing Organizations with industry partners. Notable projects include those at IIT Roorkee, IISc Bangalore, and ARAI Pune. By 2026, 29 projects with a total cost of Rs. 891.37 crores have been sanctioned, receiving Rs. 714.64 crores in budgetary support. Key details were shared by the Minister of State for Heavy Industries, Shri Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma, in Lok Sabha.
