The Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) reports no received concerns regarding water usage in Indian data centres. As data centre capacity escalated from 375 MW in 2020 to over 1500 MW by 2025, advanced cooling technologies are implemented to reduce water and energy consumption. Guidelines from the Ministry of Jal Shakti regulate groundwater extraction by data centres across India.
