Ministry of MSME Promotes Development of MSME Sector

The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has implemented various initiatives to promote and develop the MSME sector in India. Key measures include the Udyam Registration for ease of doing business, the launch of the Udyam Assist Platform to formalize informal micro enterprises, and the inclusion of retail and wholesale traders as MSMEs. The revamped Credit Guarantee Scheme aims to facilitate additional credit and expand employment opportunities. The PM Vishwakarma Scheme provides holistic benefits to traditional artisans, while the Self Reliant India Fund supports MSMEs with equity funding. The total number of MSMEs registered on the Udyam platforms has reached 6.63 crore as of July 2025.
