Ministry of Panchayati Raj Enhances Financial Autonomy for Panchayats

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR) has launched multiple initiatives to bolster the autonomy and efficiency of Rural Local Bodies (RLBs) by augmenting their Own Source Revenues (OSR). It has introduced the SAMARTH Panchayat portal to digitize revenue collection, thereby enhancing transparency and efficiency. Additionally, the Atma Nirbhar Panchayat Special Award (ANPSA) recognizes self-reliance efforts. Training in OSR generation is provided in collaboration with IIM-A, fostering financial self-sufficiency across 31 states and UTs. These steps align with increased allocations from the Central Finance Commissions to empower local governance in India.
