Ministry of Railways Approves ₹426 Crore Railway Line Expansion
The Ministry of Railways has sanctioned a fourth railway line between Baikunth and Urkura under the South East Central Railway at a cost of ₹426.01 crore. This project, part of the Mumbai-Howrah high-density corridor, aims to ease congestion and enhance train punctuality for both passenger and freight services. The expansion will facilitate an additional 14.25 million tonnes of freight annually, supporting key industrial sectors and contributing an estimated ₹61.70 crore in annual earnings.
