Ministry of Science & Technology Advances Biotech-KISAN Scheme
The Department of Biotechnology has been implementing the Biotech-KISAN scheme since 2017, aimed at bridging gaps between scientific labs and agricultural fields. With hubs across diverse agro-climatic zones, the program focuses on empowering farmers through biotechnology, directly impacting over one lakh farmers and improving crop yields by 15-37%. It also targets women empowerment with specialized fellowships and training. Moreover, the scheme transfers various biotechnological interventions, such as biofertilizers and mechanized processing clusters to farmers across all zones.
