The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has released a Discussion Paper 2.0 focusing on the transition to a chain-based methodology for the Index of Industrial Production (IIP). This new method aims to enhance the accuracy of industrial production indices by annually adjusting the weights of different industries, thus reflecting the current production landscape more accurately. MoSPI invites stakeholders to review and comment on the proposed changes by 25th January 2026.
