Ministry of Steel Eases Import Rules for Non-QCO Grades

The Ministry of Steel has revised import regulations to enhance ease of doing business by eliminating the need for No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for steel grades not covered under Quality Control Orders (QCOs). Importers can now generate SIMS numbers directly through the Steel Import Monitoring System (SIMS) Portal. For QCO-covered grades, imports must still come from manufacturers with valid BIS licenses, although an exemption process is available for non-BIS licensee units.
