Ministry of Steel Launches SARAL SIMS for Easier Import Registration

The Ministry of Steel has introduced 'SARAL SIMS' to simplify the registration process for small importers under the Steel Import Monitoring System (SIMS). This new facility allows importers to declare only the total intended quantity of steel imports, enabling them to import multiple consignments without needing a separate SIMS number for each. The initiative aims to ease the import process for MSMEs and small importers, with specific provisions for small consignments and exports. Changes also include a reduction in registration fields and the revocation of certain requirements for non-QCO covered grades.
