Ministry of Steel Suspends Enforcement of 55 IS Standards

The Ministry of Steel has suspended the enforcement of 55 Indian Standards under the Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2024, for three years and one year respectively, to support industry needs. This decision follows recommendations from the High-Level Committee on Non-Financial Regulatory Reforms, considering factors like pricing impacts, availability for MSMEs, and reliance on imports. The suspension includes 42 standards for general steel grades and 13 for specialty steel grades.
