Ministry of Textiles Initiates Textile Waste Management Efforts

The Ministry of Textiles has launched initiatives to address textile waste, highlighted by the Prime Minister's remarks in his 120th Mann ki Baat. A study is underway to assess textile waste and its value chain, involving NGOs, startups, and technology providers. An Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) Taskforce has been established to identify key issues in the textile value chain. Additionally, a Textiles Startup Grand Challenge was held to promote transparency and end-of-life management, with nine winners recognized at Bharat Tex 2025. Pilot projects are also being implemented to manage textile waste and promote circularity.
