Ministry of Tourism Launches Homestay Development Initiative in Tribal Areas

The Ministry of Tourism has introduced the 'Development of Homestays in Tribal Areas' sub-scheme under the Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan (PM-JUGA) to develop homestays in tribal regions. This initiative aims to boost tourism and provide alternative livelihoods for tribal communities by offering financial support for village infrastructure, construction of new rooms, and renovation of existing structures. Capacity-building, skill development, and sustainable tourism practices are integral to the scheme. Projects totaling ₹17.52 Cr have been approved in various states, although funding has not yet commenced.
