Ministry of Tribal Affairs Enhances EMRS Infrastructure in Kerala
On December 18, 2025, in response to a Lok Sabha inquiry, Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs, Shri Durgadas Uikey, revealed that the infrastructure of Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) is continuously assessed with a special focus on Kerala. The ministry has allocated ₹5 crore for infrastructure upgrades in these schools statewide, established under Article 275(1). Kerala now boasts four sanctioned EMRS, with constructions completed in two districts. Modern smart classrooms have been rolled out in phases, with installations finalized at facilities in Idukki and Pookode. The NESTS has embarked on significant recruitment endeavors, adding 10391 staff members, and is advertising 7267 additional positions to ensure educational activities proceed smoothly without disruptions.
