Ministry of Tribal Affairs Reports Progress on Forest Rights Act Implementation
The Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Shri Durgadas Uikey informed the Lok Sabha about the status of the implementation of the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006. Over the past five years, 11,35,699 claims have been filed, with 5,36,401 recognized. Uttar Pradesh reported no pending claims as of March 2026. The Ministry of Tribal Affairs encourages States/UTs to fast-track claims handling, although no specific delays or issues were formally reported by State/UT administrations.
