MoD Signs Major Contract for LCA Mk1A Aircraft

The Ministry of Defence has signed a contract worth Rs. 62,370 crore with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited for the procurement of 97 Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Mk1A for the Indian Air Force. This includes 68 fighters and 29 twin-seaters, with deliveries expected to start in 2027-28. The aircraft will feature over 64% indigenous content and advanced systems, supporting the government's indigenisation efforts and creating approximately 11,750 jobs annually over six years.
