Model Rules for Agroforestry to Enhance Ease of Doing Business
The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has introduced 'Model Rules for Felling of Trees in Agricultural Lands' to simplify regulatory frameworks and promote agroforestry across States and Union Territories. The initiative aims to enhance rural livelihoods, improve soil health, and support sustainable agricultural practices while balancing ecological needs with economic development. The upcoming National Timber Management System (NTMS) portal will facilitate the registration of agroforestry plantations and streamline the process for farmers to apply for tree harvesting permits, thereby encouraging greater participation in agroforestry practices.
