Model Youth Gram Sabha Initiative Evaluated by Ministry

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj has implemented the Model Youth Gram Sabha (MYGS) initiative in collaboration with other governmental bodies to foster grassroots democracy among students by involving them in mock Gram Sabha sessions. This initiative, aimed at enhancing local governance understanding, is being executed in 1306 schools across India. As of December 1, 2025, MYGS sessions have been conducted in 35 states/UTs, engaging over 27,523 students. The initiative includes a structured evaluation framework and a cascading training model to prepare teachers and students. The initiative is regularly monitored, with schools contributing data through the Panchayat Nirnay portal.
