MoHUA Charts Roadmap for Clean Himalayan Hill Cities
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) organized a preparatory workshop for the Clean Himalayan Hill Cities Initiative on December 16, 2025, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. This workshop aimed to unite key stakeholders, including urban experts, technical agencies, civil society organizations, and development partners, to create a strategic and sustainable roadmap to enhance sanitation in Himalayan hill cities. The initiative builds on the Swachh Bharat Mission–Urban's success, aiming for visually clean and resilient hill cities through collaborative and context-specific solutions. Participants discussed replicable models in waste management, community-led sanitation practices, and technology-driven solutions for geographical challenges peculiar to hill regions. The workshop marked the release of knowledge products like 'Mountains of Change', aimed at fortifying waste management solutions. The initiative will see detailed assessments by states to formulate actionable plans to be implemented in early 2026.
