MoSJE and MoRD Sign MoU to Empower DNT Communities

The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MoSJE) and the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to empower De-Notified, Nomadic, and Semi-Nomadic Tribes (DNTs) in India. This partnership aims to integrate DNT Self-Help Groups (SHGs) into the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) framework, providing them with access to financial resources, capacity building, and sustainable livelihood opportunities. Over the next three years, more than 5,000 DNT SHGs will be onboarded, with dedicated support from community members known as DNT Sakhis. The initiative emphasizes dignity, opportunity, and empowerment for historically marginalized communities.
