MoSPI Announces New Survey on Migration Across India

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) is set to conduct a comprehensive Survey on Migration from July 2026 to June 2027. This initiative aims to gather up-to-date data on migration patterns, reasons, and employment profiles of migrants across India. The findings will assist policymakers and researchers in enhancing urban planning, employment generation, and social security measures. The upcoming survey will expand on previous data gathered through the 2020-21 Periodic Labour Force Survey, which highlighted gender-specific migration patterns, with female migration primarily due to marriage and male migration mainly for employment opportunities.
