MSME Participation Boosted in PLI Scheme for Traditional Textiles

The Ministry of Textiles has enhanced the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for traditional textiles to bolster MSME participation. Originally launched in September 2021, the scheme targets the production of man-made fiber (MMF) apparel, fabrics, and technical textiles. As of September 2025, 91 companies, including 36 MSMEs, have been approved, with exports worth Rs.733 crore and turnover of Rs.7,290 crore. Recent amendments lower investment requirements and expand product ranges to encourage more MSME involvement. The Samarth Scheme for capacity building has trained 5.35 lakh beneficiaries with 4.20 lakh being placed. The Ministry is also promoting international exports through councils and a major event, Bharat TEX, to highlight India's textile advancements.
