MSME Sector's Economic Impact and Growth in India

Union MSME Minister Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi highlighted the significant contributions of the MSME sector to India's economy, accounting for 30.1% of GDP, 35.4% of manufacturing, and 45.73% of exports. With 6.5 crore MSME units registered on the Udyam Portal, the sector has created employment for 28 crore people. The Minister also discussed various initiatives, including the PM Vishwakarma scheme and the Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), aimed at supporting micro-enterprises and enhancing credit access for entrepreneurs, particularly women and SC/ST individuals.
