MSMEs: The Backbone of India's Industrial Economy According to Economic Survey 2025-26
The Economic Survey 2025-26 highlights the significance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in India's industrial economy. Tabled by Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, the survey shows that MSMEs contribute 35.4% to manufacturing, 48.58% to exports, and 31.1% to the GDP. The sector has been vital in driving industrial credit growth and will play a key role in India's integration into global supply chains under the Viksit Bharat@2047 growth trajectory.
