NABCONS Study on Post-Harvest Losses and MoFPI's Food Irradiation Initiatives

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) has released a study by NABCONS assessing post-harvest losses across 54 crops from 2020 to 2022. The study highlights significant losses at various stages of the supply chain, including harvesting and storage. In response, MoFPI has approved 16 multi-product food irradiation units to enhance shelf life and reduce wastage of perishable produce. The Cold Chain scheme aims to support these initiatives, although the Mega Food Park Scheme has been discontinued since April 2021.
