National Consumer Helpline Reports on GST-Related Grievances

The National Consumer Helpline (NCH) has received 3,981 calls related to the new GST reforms, with 31% being queries and 69% grievances. The majority of complaints focus on milk pricing, electronic goods, LPG, and petrol. The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) is actively monitoring these grievances and has forwarded 1,992 cases to the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) for action. The CCPA emphasizes consumer education to clarify misconceptions about GST changes and ensure compliance among businesses.
