National Livestock Mission Boosts Entrepreneurship in India
The National Livestock Mission (NLM) in India, through its Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP), promotes entrepreneurship by offering a 50% capital subsidy for establishing various animal breeding and fodder processing units. The initiative aims to organize livestock farming, including camels, horses, and donkeys, into the formal sector. It also features a subsidy-driven Livestock Insurance activity to increase coverage and affordability. In total, 858 women-led projects under this scheme have been approved, showcasing significant female participation. Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh detailed these developments in the Rajya Sabha.
