The Union Government has issued a notification regarding the establishment of the National Sports Board (Search-cum-Selection Committee) Rules, 2026, under the framework of the National Sports Governance Act, 2025. This notification facilitates the formation of a committee chaired by the Cabinet Secretary, alongside members including the Secretary (Sports) and national sports award recipients. Their main role is to propose candidates for the roles of Chairperson and Members of the National Sports Board, which will oversee the recognition of National Sports Bodies and ensure adherence to governance and ethical standards.
