Navi Mumbai's Pioneering Textile Waste Transformation

Under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0, Navi Mumbai is pioneering a transformative initiative that converts post-consumer textile waste into economic and environmental opportunities. Integral to this effort is the city’s first Textile Recovery Facility (TRF), which employs circular economy practices such as decentralised collection, scientific sorting using the KOSHA scanner, and women-led production of upcycled goods. Since inception, the TRF has processed significant waste, engaged communities, and empowered women by creating jobs and enabling participatory economic practices.
