NBA Allocates ₹14.88 Crore for Red Sanders Conservation in Andhra Pradesh

The National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) has released ₹14.88 crore to the Andhra Pradesh Forest Department as part of its Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) mechanism. This contribution, drawn from 29 Form-I applications, is aimed at supporting various initiatives for the conservation and sustainable use of Red Sanders, a valuable and endemic species in the Eastern Ghats of India. To date, the NBA has disbursed over ₹143 crore for similar initiatives across India, reinforcing its commitment to biodiversity governance and the prevention of illegal trade.
