NBA Disburses Rs 17 Lakh to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Under ABS Mechanism
The National Biodiversity Authority has distributed Rs 17 lakh to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's Biodiversity Management Committee. This disbursement is part of the Access and Benefit Sharing mechanism under India's Biological Diversity Act, 2002, following commercial use of Bacillus soil micro-organisms for probiotic products. Maharashtra becomes India's second major beneficiary under ABS, after Andhra Pradesh.
