NBA Distributes Rs. 6.09 Crore to Strengthen Biodiversity Governance

The National Biodiversity Authority, under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, has distributed Rs 6.09 crore to State Biodiversity Boards and Union Territory Biodiversity Councils for the fiscal year 2025-26. This funding aims to enhance decentralized biodiversity governance by improving the functionality of Biodiversity Management Committees, the quality of People’s Biodiversity Registers, and the implementation of Access and Benefit Sharing mechanisms. The support is provided under the Biological Diversity (Amendment) Act 2023 and aligns with India’s commitment to sustainable and inclusive biodiversity management.
