New Guidelines Issued for Waste-to-Energy Plants

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, in collaboration with the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), has released draft guidelines for waste-to-energy plants utilizing municipal solid waste incineration. These guidelines focus on managing emissions, including leachate and ash, and promote real-time monitoring through Online Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (OCEMS) to ensure compliance with environmental norms. Additionally, efforts to improve air quality through national and city-level plans under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) continue across India.
