New Voluntary Retirement Rules for Central Government Employees

The Ministry of Personnel has announced the Central Civil Services (Implementation of the Unified Pension Scheme under the National Pension System) Rules, 2025, allowing Central Government employees to opt for voluntary retirement after 20 years of service. The rules stipulate that while full assured payouts are available after 25 years, those opting for voluntary retirement will receive a prorated payout based on their years of service. Additional benefits include final withdrawal of 60% of the individual corpus and other retirement benefits. In case of the subscriber's death before the payout begins, the spouse will receive a family payout.
