NHAI Eases FASTag Process by Dropping KYV for Cars from 2026

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will discontinue the Know Your Vehicle (KYV) process for cars using FASTag from February 2026, simplifying the toll payment system and improving public convenience. This change removes the burden of post-activation KYV processes for car owners with valid documents. Simultaneously, NHAI has reinforced pre-activation validation, ensuring verification by banks before FASTag activation, thereby enhancing accuracy and compliance without compromising on simplicity. These reforms reflect NHAI's commitment to a user-friendly and efficient FASTag system.
