NHAI Unveils the First National Highways Green Cover Index Report for 2025-26

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has released its inaugural National Highways Green Cover Index (NH-GCI) report for the year 2025-26. The report, conducted in collaboration with the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), evaluates the green cover along National Highways. Leveraging advanced satellite technology to measure chlorophyll content, the NH-GCI provides a comprehensive analysis of the vegetation along the Right of Way (RoW) across 30,000 km of highways. The initiative underscores NHAI's commitment to promoting environmental sustainability and enhancing the green transformation of the highway network.
