The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India has taken suomotu cognizance of unclaimed dead bodies piling up in the mortuary of Raipur District Hospital, Chhattisgarh, due to lack of space for last rites. The NHRC emphasized that the deceased deserve dignified last rites in accordance with their religion and has issued a notice to the Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh for a detailed report within two weeks.
