NHRC Chairperson Addresses Human Rights Day

On the eve of Human Rights Day, NHRC India Chairperson, Justice Shri V. Ramasubramanian, delivered a message highlighting the importance of human rights as fundamental to daily life. Celebrated annually on December 10 since 1950, this day commemorates the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the UN in 1948, with an emphasis on dignity, justice, and equality. This year’s theme is "Human Rights, Our Everyday Essentials." The NHRC plays a critical role in advocating human rights locally and globally, calling for solidarity to tackle challenges like climate change and terrorism. The Commission reaffirms its commitment to uphold these rights, inspired by the tenets of India's Constitution and the UDHR.
