NHRC Ensures Relief for Child Subjected to Inhuman Treatment in Madhya Pradesh
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) intervened in a case involving a 5-year-old student in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, who was subjected to inhuman treatment by school staff. The government has provided Rs 50,000 as relief to the victim. An attendant's services were terminated, and the class teacher was suspended for six months. The NHRC reiterated the prohibition of physical punishment and mental harassment of children under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009.
