NHRC Investigates Deaths of Three Prisoners in Varanasi

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India has taken suo motu cognisance of the deaths of three prisoners in Varanasi jails within two days. The NHRC has issued notices to the State Director General of Prisons and the Varanasi Police Commissioner, demanding a detailed report within two weeks, including inquest and post-mortem examination reports, initial health screenings, and magisterial enquiry reports.
