NHRC Investigates Labourer Death in Rajasthan
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India has taken suo motu cognizance of the death of a 50-year-old labourer who was buried while digging a sewer pit in Ajmer, Rajasthan. The NHRC has issued notices to the Chief Secretary and Police Commissioner of Ajmer, demanding a detailed report within two weeks, including information on compensation for the victim's next of kin. The incident occurred on July 14, 2025, when the labourer was buried under soil that caved in during excavation work.
