NHRC Probes Abduction and Rape Case Involving Police Officer in Kanpur

The National Human Rights Commission has taken suo motu cognizance of a media report regarding the abduction and rape of a 14-year-old girl in Kanpur district, Uttar Pradesh. One of the accused is reportedly a Sub-Inspector of the Uttar Pradesh police. The NHRC has issued a notice to the state's Director General of Police for a detailed report on the incident within two weeks.
