NHRC Probes Police Inaction and Bribery in Uttar Pradesh Gang Rape Case
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India has initiated an inquiry into allegations of police inaction and bribery in the context of a gang rape case in Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh. The investigation follows media reports that the victim's husband was illegally detained and a bribe was demanded for his release. Additionally, the victim was reportedly sexually assaulted by the Station House Officer. The NHRC has demanded a detailed report from the Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police within two weeks to address these serious human rights concerns.
