NHRC Takes Action on Gang Rape of Hearing Impaired Woman in Uttar Pradesh

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India has taken suo motu cognizance of a reported gang rape incident involving a speech and hearing impaired woman in Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred on August 11, 2025, when the victim was chased down by two men. The NHRC has issued notices to the State DGP and District Magistrate for a detailed report on the investigation and any compensation for the victim, expected within two weeks.
